Since June 2024, following my move to Brazil, Elton Machado Bass Academy has shifted to offering lessons exclusively online. I truly enjoyed my time in Charleston and miss the wonderful people I had the pleasure of meeting there. However, this shift allows me to focus on refining my online teaching approach while maintaining the high-quality lessons my students are accustomed to, and provides greater flexibility in connecting with dedicated students worldwide.
My bass lessons cover a diverse range of topics and depends on the various skill levels. Fundamental subjects covered include Harmony & Ear Training, Fretboard knowledge & Reading, Scales & Arpeggios, Technique, Improvisation & Arrangement, Repertoire & Transcriptions. The lessons are customized to meet each student's unique proficiency and musical goals.
You have the flexibility to choose from 30, 45, or 60-minute lessons based on your availability and commitment level. The longer sessions allows for a more in-depth instruction, practice, and personalized guidance. Additionally, I encourage and recommend our weekly lesson packages. Choosing a package not only ensures consistency but also allows students to secure their weekly spots, make a commitment to their musical journey, and enjoy significant savings.
What distinguishes me as an instructor is a unique blend of pedagogical experience, academic education, and versatile professional performance experience. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment that fosters deep musical understanding, technical proficiency, and creativity.
Absolutely! You can book a single trial lesson to experience my teaching style and determine if it aligns with your learning preferences. Afterward, you can choose a suitable weekly lesson package.

You’ll need a reliable internet connection, a computer or tablet (or even a phone) with a camera, and your bass guitar for the lessons. Headphones are highly recommended to avoid feedback and ensure clearer bass sound. We use Zoom for our sessions, and enabling "Original Sound" in the audio settings can further enhance the overall audio quality of the lessons. Before your first lesson, I provide a document with a tutorial on how to prepare for lessons, including detailed instructions on adjusting Zoom's audio settings.
When scheduling your lesson, you'll be prompted to complete the payment process through Calendly. You can securely use PayPal to ensure a smooth transaction.
Yes, I offer lessons for students aged 12 and up. While younger students may be interested in learning bass guitar, I find that students aged 12 and older generally have the physical development and focus needed to make the most of their lessons. If you're unsure whether your child is ready, feel free to contact me, and we can discuss your specific situation. As for older students, there is no upper age limit.
Life can be unpredictable, and schedules may need adjustments. Please inform me at least 24 hours in advance if you need to make any changes. Refunds won't be provided for cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice. Consider rescheduling over cancellation for a consistent learning experience.
I stand behind the quality of my bass lessons, and the satisfaction and progress of my students are my priority. If you would like to request a refund, simply reach out to me within 24 hours after your lesson and I'll promptly process your refund.
